Act Now BC: Physical Activity Strategy
The physical activity strategy is one of the seven ActNow BC Strategies that are helping to guide British Columbians to develop healthier lifestyles and to meet the goal of being the healthiest jurisdiction to ever host the Olympics.
The Active Communities Initiative is a cross-sectoral initiative focused on supporting communities to increase physical activity levels of British Columbians by 20%. The initiative mobilizes and collaborates with communities, local governments, Aboriginal and partner organizations to promote healthy lifestyle choices, increase accessibility to physical activities and build supportive community environments. The Initiative is delivered by BC Recreation and Parks Association (BCRPA) with funding from the Provincial Government through ActNowBC.
A registered Active Community is one that has voluntarily made a commitment to:
* Work towards the 20% goal * Build an Active Communities team * Develop an Active Communities plan * Evaluate their initiative’s successRegistered Active Communities in Northern BC
